Words of Moroni
1 E agora, eis que desejo falar algo para aqueles que chegarão a ter em suas mãos as palavras deste livro, após o Senhor estender seu braço sobre os gentios nos últimos diasa. Pois, eis que haverá muitos dentre os gentios e também dentre os judeus que não endurecerão o coração em relação as palavras deste livro, sobre o qual Néfi profetizou, quando este livro for revelado aos filhos dos homens e for escrito para os gentios e selado novamente para o Senhorb.
1a And now, I desire to speak unto those that shall come to possess the words of this book into their hands, at that time when the Lord shall extend His arm over the Gentiles in the latter daysa;
1b For behold, there shall be many of the both the Jews and the Gentiles who shall not harden their hearts concerning the words of this book of which Nephi prophesiedb,
1c And this book shall be revealed unto the children of men, and written unto the Gentiles, and sealed once again unto the Lord.
2 Mas, eis que muitos acreditarão nas palavras deste livro e se regozijarão por saber que procede da mão de Deus e de seus olhos cairão as escamas da escuridão que os impede de ver em sua plenitude a verdade enviada dos céus e, antes que se passem muitas gerações, começarão a coligar-se no verdadeiro conhecimento e tornar-se-ão um povo puro e agradável aos olhos do Senhor sobre toda a terra habitada.
2a But, behold, many shall believe the words of this book, and they will rejoice to know that it comes from the hand of God;
2b And the scales of the darkness that prevents them from seeing the truth sent from the heavens in their fullness shall fall away from their eyes,
2c And before many generations shall pass, they shall begin to gather themselves together in Da’at (true knowledge) and will become a white and delightsome people in the sight of YHVH (the LORD) upon all of the earth.
3 E acontecerá que o Senhor Deus começará novamente sua obra entre todas as nações, tribos, línguas e povos, para efetuar nestes períodos de tempos, já antes determinados pelo Senhor, a plena restauração de todas as coisas, das quais, Deus falou por intermédio de seus servos, os profetasc.
3 And it shall come to pass that the Lord God will begin again His work among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and peoples; to establish in this, the time appointed by the Lord, the restoration of all things in their fullness, of which God spokec through His servants the prophets.
4 Eis, portanto, que é nesses dias que o Senhor convida seu povo:
vinde a mim, ó vós gentios e mostrar-vos-ei coisas maiores que estas. Sim, o conhecimento que está oculto por causa da dureza de seus corações. Vinde a mim, ó vós, casa de Israel e vos será revelado coisas grandiosas que o Pai vos reservou desde a fundação do mundo e que não chegaram a vós por causa de vossa incredulidade.
4a Therefore, it is in these days that the Lord invites his people: Come to me, O ye Gentiles, and I will show you things greater than these;
4b Yea, even the knowledge that is hidden because of the hardness of their hearts shall I give unto thee.
4c Come to me, O house of Israel, and the great things which the Father has reserved for thee from the foundation of the world, which have not come to you because of your unbelief, shall be revealed unto thee.
5 Eis que vos é chegado o tempo para rasgardes este véu que vos leva a permanecer neste tão terrível estado de iniquidade e dureza de coração e cegueira de mente, pois as palavras que vos chegam deste registro, o Livro Selado de Mórmon, são como a ponta dura do malho que despedaça a dureza da rocha que reveste vossos corações empedernidos por vossas tradições e como o fogo do fundidor que refina e purifica as imundícies de seus pensamentos manchados pelos preceitos dos homensd.
5a And behold, the time has come to tear off the veil that leads thee to remain in this terrible state of iniquity, and hardness of heart, and blindness of mind;
5b For the words that come to you from this record are like the tip hard tip of hammer that breaketh the rock that covers your hearts hardened by thy traditions
5c Yea, and like the fire of the founder who refines and purifies his unclean thoughts, stained by the precepts of men.
6 Nesses dias, o Senhor vai estender sua mão pela segunda vez a fim de recuperar o seu povo que é da casa de Israel e efetuar uma obra maravilhosa no meio deles com a finalidade de recordar os convênios que fez com os filhos dos homens e para que se cumpram as promessas feitas a Néfi no que diz respeito aos descendentes de Leí, seu pai, a fim de recuperar os emanescentes de sua semente e para que as palavras deste livro, escrito pela semente de Néfi, chegue até a semente de seu pai nos últimos dias e ao conhecimento da casa de Israele.
6a And in those days the Lord will stretch out His hand a second timee to reclaim His people which are of the house of Israel, and to do a marvelous work among them, remembering the covenants He made with the sons of men;
6b And the promisese made to Nephi concerning the descendants of his father Lehi shall be fulfilled; yea even to free his seed from bondagef,
6c And that the words of this book, written by the seed of Nephi, shall reach his father’s seed in the latter days and to learn of the house of Israel.
7 Eis que sou Morôni, filho de Mórmon e meu pai era descendente de Néfi, que era filho de Leí nosso patriarca, o qual era filho de Safã, proveniente de uma família escriba do reino de Judá e procedente da tribo de José, mediante a descendência de Manassésg, assim como se lê na genealogia de Leí, de acordo com seu próprio registro descrito na primeira parte destas placas que meu pai, Mórmon, compilou.
7a Behold, I am Moroni the son of Mormon,
7b And my father was a descendant of Nephi, who was the son of Lehi our father, who was the son of Shaphan, coming from a family of scribes in the kingdom of Judah, out of the tribe of Joseph, of Manassehg,
7c And this according to the genealogy of Lehi as read in his own record, described in the first part of these plates which my father, Mormon, has compiled.
8 Safã era secretário escriba do rei Josias, nos dias em que Hilquias o sumo sacerdote encontrou sob o altar do templo em Jerusalém os antigos registros de Moisésh e dentre eles o livro da lei e o próprio livro selado das coisas que Moisés viu quando foi arrebato à Sião Celestiali.
8a And Shaphanj was the scribe of King Josiah, in the days when Hilkiah the high priest found under the altar of the temple at Jerusalem the ancient records of Moses;
8b And among them the Book of the Law and the sealed book containing the things which Moses saw when in rapture with the Celestial Zion.
9 Se deu então, nos primeiros dias do reinado de Zedequias, porquanto Leí voltava de Babilônia, juntamente com Gemarias, filho de Hilquias, quando juntos foram comissionados pelo rei de Judá a ir até Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, e nisto levaram consigo uma carta de Jeremias, o profeta, destinada aos anciãos, aos sacerdotes e aos profetas, e a todo povo exilado na terra de Sinear, que o Senhor lhe apareceu em uma coluna de fogo e depois desse evento ocorrido nunca mais foi chamado por seu nome de nascença, Elasá, mas passou a ser conhecido pelo nome que Deus lhe chamou, Leí, que corresponde a uma abreviação de Eliasibe, cujo significado quer dizer: Por meio de quem Deus restaurak.
9a And it came to pass in the early days of the reign of Zedekiah that Lehi returned from Babylon, he together with Gemariah the son of Hilkiah,
9b For they were jointly commissioned by the king of Judah to go to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,
9c And he took with him a letter from Jeremiah the prophet for the elders, the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people exiled in the land of Sinear, as YHVH appeared to him in a pillar of fire,
9d And after that event he was never called again by his birth name, Elijah, but became known by the name that God gave him, even Lehi, which is an abbreviation of Eliashib, which means: El (God) restores
10 Eis que eu, Morôni, sou o mesmo que relatei anteriormente, que se possível dar-vos-ia a conhecer todas as coisas, mas fui instruído a selar os registros de meu pai juntamente com aquele que o Senhor me pediu para escrever sobre o que o irmão de Jarede viu, porque as coisas que ele viu, estão além da compreensão dos gentios, até que se arrependam da sua iniquidade e se tornem puros perante o Senhor e comecem a exercer fé no Filho de Deus, como fez o irmão de Jarede.
10a Behold, I am the same Moroni that told you before, that if it were possible, I would make all things known unto youl,
10b But I was instructed to seal my father’s records with the one the Lord asked me to write, containing that which the brother of Jared saw,
10c And this because the things which he saw are beyond the understanding of the Gentiles, until they repent of their iniquity, and become clean before the Lord, and begin to exercise faith in the Son of God, even as did the brother of Jared .
11 Não obstante, me foi ordenado pelo Senhor a separar em três conjuntos o registro inteiro contido nas placas de Mórmon, a fim de serem revelados em três períodos de tempos.
11 Nevertheless, I was commanded by the Lord to separate the whole record contained in the plates or Mormon plates into three parts that they may be revealed in three periods of time.
12 O primeiro conjunto é um apêndice preparatório do segundo e o segundo do terceiro. O primeiro serve para constituir uma aliança entre Deus e os gentios através do arrependimento e constitui-se em um registro aberto, a ser dado em preparação dos povos para se compreender coisas maiores quando forem reveladas.
12a The first portion is the preparatory portion of the second, and the second is the preparatory portion of the third.
12b And the first portion serves to constitute a marriage between God and the Gentiles through repentance, composing an open record to be given in preparation of the peoples to understand greater things when they are revealed.
13 E se eles não endurecem seus corações quando a segunda parte vier, eles não só conhecerão os mistérios de Deus através da primeira parte, mas receberão mais, um pouco aqui, outro pouco ali, linha sobre linha, preceito sobre preceito, até se conhecer os mistérios de Deus através da revelação da segunda parte, para a compreensão de todas as coisas relativas à sua igreja nos últimos diasm.
13a And if they do not harden their hearts when the second portion comes, they will not only through the first portion know the mysteries of God, but will receive more,
13b Here a little, there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept, until they know the mysteries of God revealed through the second portion, to the understanding of all things relating to His Church in the latter days.
14 Eis, porém, que o inverso ocorrerá para aqueles que possuírem a primeira parte dos registros compilados por meu pai, Mórmon, nos últimos dias, sim nos dias dos gentios, mas que não estarão dispostos a meditar sobre isso em seus corações, tão pouco se farão valer da dádiva sobreposta em uma promessa transcrita por mim, Morôni e que corresponde as duas primeiras partes dos escritos de meu pai, uma vez que deixei registrado “estas minhas palavras a título de exortação” antes mesmo de selar ‘estes registros,’ correspondente a mais de um registro selado, pois em nenhum momento eu disse ‘este registro’ quando mencionei que estaria selando estes registrosn.
14a But to those who possess the first portion of the records compiled by my father, Mormon, in the last days, even in the days of the Gentiles, but are unwilling to contemplate these things in their hearts the opposite will happen;
14b So little will they avail themselves of the gift enveloped upon the promise written out by me, Moroni, which corresponds to the first two portions of my father’s writings,
14c Seeing that I have recorded these my words as an exhortationn before even sealing these records, relating to more than one sealed record,
14c And at no time did I say this record when I mentioned that I would be sealing these recordsn.
15 E os exorto novamente, caso Deus julgue prudente que leiais estes registros, caso tenham apenas o desejo de compreender a verdade sobre eles, e de coração meditardes em suas palavras, então vos exorto a perguntardes a Deus, o Pai Eterno, em nome de Cristo, se estas coisas não são verdadeiras e se perguntardes com um coração sincero e com real intenção de saber, tendo fé em Cristo, então ele vos manifestará a verdade delas pelo poder do Espírito Santo, pois por intermédio do Espírito Santo podeis saber a verdade de todas as coisas1.
15a And againo, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that you should read them, if you have only the desire to understand the truth about them, and ponder His words in your hearts,
15b Then I exhort you to ask God the Eternal Father in the name of Christ, if these things are not true;
15c And, if you shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, then will he manifest the truthp of it by the power of the Holy Ghost,
15d For by the Holy Ghost ye may know the truthq of all things.
16 E acontecerá, então, com aqueles que endurecerem o coração para com esta segunda parte, quando ela for revelada aos filhos do homem, que até mesmo o conhecimento da primeira parte lhes será tirado e com isso, permanecerão apegados aos preceitos dos homensr; honrarão ao Senhor com os lábios, mas estarão afastados dos seus caminhoss; estarão convictos de sua fé na primeira parte dantes revelada destes registros dizendo: temos o suficiente e não estamos prontos para mais escrituras. Destes, será tirado até mesmo o pouco do conhecimento que tiverem, até que não lhes reste nada além de suas tradiçõest.
16a And it shall come to pass that he that will harden his heart to this secondr portion when it shall be revealed unto the children of men, that even that knowledge of the first portion will be taken aways from them and they will remain fixed upon the doctrines of men;
16b For they honor the Lord with their lips, but they are far from Him their ways;
16c And they will be convinced of their faith in the first portion before these records shall be revealed, saying: We have received, and we need no more scriptures!
16d From them shall be taken awayt even the little of the knowledge that they have, until they have nothing left but their traditions, which is to say the doctrines of man.
17 Por sua vez, este conjunto que corresponde a segunda parte, sobre a qual, eu, Morôni, predisse em uma dupla profecia revelada a mim da parte de Jesus Cristo, cujo contexto expõe tanto o surgimento deste livro selado de Mórmon, que deve ser revelado antes da vinda de nosso Senhor a vista de seus discípulos nos últimos dias, bem como o registro dos sete selos que meu pai Mórmon previu neste registro, de que somente nosso Senhor é digno de abrir o restante dos selos que contém no conjunto selado destas placas de Mórmon, através dos eventos que foram profetizados sobre as nações da terrau após a sua vinda a Sião, na Nova Jerusalém e os sete eventos que irão se desdobrar com os filhos dos homens, todos preditos nestes registros, que por ele, Jesus Cristo, será revelado para aqueles que terão a fé do irmão de Jaredev, antes que venha de cima a Sião Celestial e a tenda de Deus seja estabelecida entre os filhos dos homens e o Reino de nosso Senhor sujeite todas as nações sob seus termos.
17a And, when this second portion of the work shall come forth unto you as I, Moroni have twice foretold you by prophecy given me of Jesus Christ, which content expounds both the coming forth or the sealed volume from Mormon, which must be revealed to His disciples in the last days, before the coming of our Lord, as well as the record of the seven seals that my father, Mormon, spoke of in this record;
17b And only our Lord is worthy to open the remainder of the seals contained in the sealed portion of the plates of Mormon,
17c And these events were prophesied about the nations of the earthu after their coming to Zion, in the renewed Jerusalem
17a And the seven events that will unfold with the children of men, all foretold in these records, who through him, Jesus Christ, will be revealed to those who will have the faith of the brother of Jaredv, before he comes from above to Heavenly Zion
17d And the tent of God shall be established between the children of men and the Kingdom of God. our Lord subdue all nations under his terms.
18 Porquanto me foi revelado nesta visão mista, que obtive destes eventos finais, que antes do Senhor vir desvendar a plenitude de seus mistérios, que as revelações que o Senhor fez com que fossem escritas por seu servo, João, sejam manifestas aos olhos de todo o povo antes de sua vinda. E que estas revelações, transcritas por meu pai, Mórmon, nesses registros selados, deve servir de lembrete aos filhos do convênio de que a obra do Pai verdadeiramente começou sobre toda terra habitada. É neste momento que o Senhor chama seu povo ao arrependimento pela segunda vez e os convida a virem a Ele afim de crerem em seu evangelhow.
18a For it was revealed unto me in numerous visions I have received of these final events, that before the Lord comes to unveil the fullness of His mysteries, that the revelations which the Lord had caused to be written by His servant John should be manifest in the eyes of all people before his coming.
18b And, that these revelations written down by my father, Mormon, in these sealed records, should serve as a reminder to the children of the covenant that the work of the Father has truly commenced over all the ends of the earth.
18c And behold, it is at this time that the Lord calls His people to repentance a second time, inviting them to come unto Him and to believe in His gospel.
19 É nesse tempo que se cumpre aquilo que o Senhor revelou a mim, Morôni, quando disse: “Eis que quando rasgardes esse véu de incredulidade, que vos leva a permanecer em vosso terrível estado de iniquidade e dureza de coração e cegueira de mente, então as grandes e maravilhosas coisas que vos foram ocultas, antes da fundação do mundo, vos serão reveladas — sim, quando as revelações que fiz com que fossem escritas por meu servo João, forem manifestadas aos olhos de meu povo antes de minha vinda, então sabereis que a grande e maravilhosa obra do Pai verdadeiramente começou sobre toda a face da terrax, para que todos os homens possam pela última vez se arrepender, sim, até os confins da terra se assim desejarem, venham a mim, Jesus Cristo, e creiam no meu evangelho, antes que Eu venha ao meu temploy e delineie os limites do meu reino, onde haverão de habitar aqueles que me são leais e ninguém mais terá permissão de ultrapassar suas fronteiras.”
19a And then it shall come to pass that what the Lord revealedx unto me, Moroni, is fulfilled, when he said:
19b Behold, when ye shall rend that veil of unbelief which doth cause you to remain in your awful state of wickedness, and hardness of heart, and blindness of mind, then shall the great and marvelous things which have been hid up from the foundation of the world from you be revealed unto you;
19c Yea, when the revelations which I have made to be written by my servant John, shall be manifest before the eyes of my people, before my coming;
19c Then shall ye know that the great and marvelous work of the Father hath truly begun on all the face of the earth,
19d And this that all men might repent one last time, even to the ends of the earth, if they so desire to come to me, Jesus Christ, and believe in my gospel,
19e And this they must do before I come into my temple and delineate the boundaries of my kingdom, where those who are loyal to me will dwell, and none else one shall be permitted to enter into borders thereof.
